Beverly B3 Throatless Shear — 7-gauge mild steel, 5-5/8" blade, made in USA

The B3 is the top of the Beverly range — 7-gauge mild steel capacity, 10-gauge stainless, 5-5/8" blade. The throatless design cuts in any direction and around any radius, which is the point: a panel can be turned freely under the blade without a fixed throat depth limiting where the cut can go.

This is the genuine Beverly, made by Mittler Bros. in Wright City, Missouri using the original drawings, fixtures, jigs, foundries, and material suppliers from the Chicago plant where Kurt Nebel first built these shears in 1931. The design has been essentially unchanged since 1947. CNC-machined to the original specifications, with cast alloy-steel frame, heat-treated, and replaceable high-carbon/high-chrome tool-steel blades. None of this is decorative — it is why a Beverly bought new today behaves the same as a Beverly bought in 1965, and why used B3s from the 1950s and 60s still show up working in production shops.

The B3 is the production-capacity unit in the range. At 7-gauge mild and 10-gauge stainless, it handles the heaviest sheet work most fabrication shops will put through a throatless shear, and the longer 5-5/8" blade reduces the number of passes needed on larger panels compared to the B1 and B2. It is the right choice if throatless shearing is a daily-use operation rather than an occasional one, or if the work routinely involves heavy gauges. At 58 lbs and 15" tall, it bench-mounts and runs without a stand.
