OX Planishing Hammers

The OX Planishing Hammer is Coachsmithing's patented handheld planishing hammer — designed and machined in the USA by Allen Buresh out of 45+ years of high-end coachwork experience. It gives you the planishing power of a pedestal hammer in a tool that fits in the palm of your hand.

Two models cover the working range:

• The Original OX — the standard handheld OX. Coachsmithing's everyday planishing tool, used on Ferrari, Cobra, and Delahaye restorations.
• Heavy Duty OX — twice the power of the Original. Built for thicker panels and heavier work.

What makes the OX different from other handheld planishing hammers: no hoop frame, no die system, no anvil mount. Instead, the OX uses a custom-ground tool-steel hammer blade that you work against a stationary anvil, stake, or an auto-body dolly. The result is a slapper-style action that glides over the panel without bouncing, delivering precision blows that replace the "pick and file" finishing process — without thinning the metal.
